Festival News: COPPOLA CREATES PAH-FEST DIGITAL MEDIA FESTIVAL

by Peter Brown, Contributing Editor

New festival designed to promote use of prosumer technology in all digital forms.

LOCATION: New Mexico

THE SKINNY: EARS XXI President Christopher Coppola, nephew to Francis Ford Coppola, has organized the first Pah-Fest Digital Media Festival held in association with the Cibola Arts Council in New Mexico and New Mexico State University.

The festival will showcase the latest in what is called “prosumer” products (or professional consumer electronics targeted at non-gearheads) giving everyday people the chance to tell stories digitally and from their unique, personal viewpoint – rather than that of a corporation or movie executive.

The festival will feature some interesting events including an online theater, Team Mobiflicks, mobile phone art and more. The online theater will be an interactive venue that will feature digitally produced shorts and feature length pictures. The Mobiflicks will be a contest between five small filmmaker crews to produce, shoot, cut and finish a short picture during the three day festival. The phone art contest and tech treasure hunt will allow people attending the event to participate in certain games to win based on judges decision.

Luckily, being a Coppola has its privileges, as director Francis Ford Coppola will be one of the judges along with Julie Corman, New Mexico State Senator Joseph Fidel, Miss New Mexico Ane Romero and others.
